The human brain and how it approaches hard tasks is an enigma to me. This is how it usually goes:
1) I think of a hard task I know I need to do (but don't want to do) so I write it on the to-do list.
2) The next day I see the task on the list, and I convince myself it can wait - then write it on the to-do list for the next day.
3) Rinse and repeat - this habit goes on for as long as I let it --- usually 2 - 3 weeks.
4) I finally have no choice but to face the task due to a deadline or the fact that I am totally disgusted with my self-imposed delays.
5) I psych myself up to do the dreaded task --- this involves coffee, a snack, and some positive self-talk. Sometimes I play dance music.
6) I sit down and tackle the task - it takes 5 minutes to complete.
This just wears me out ---- it happened again today. I'm trying to up my game on Instagram and have delayed for two years learning how to be more creative, use music, and use more effects. I followed the tips from an influencer and the new fancy reel was ready in 10 minutes.
Plenty of people will tell you to do the hardest tasks first thing in the morning and get it over with ---- but I'm way beyond that simple mantra! The human brain ---- a scary place to visit.
